Kent                : It’s hot here. Isn’t it ?

Michael           : Yes, it is. I think it will help if we open a window.

Kent                : That’s right. Will you open it, please ?

Michael           : Yes, Certainly.

( a minutes later )

Kent                : Well, it’s ok now.

Michael           : what about using the fan ?

Kent                : That’s a good idea. It will be more comfortable. Would you switch it on ?

Michael           : All right. I’ll try.

Kent                : Does it work ?

Michael           : Yes, it cooler now.

( A few minutes later the piano sounds )

Kent                : What are you doing val ?

Valerie             : Im still playing instrument with my piano. Do you like playing piano ?

Kent                : Yes, I do. Since my childhood, I like playing piano very much

Valerie             : Do you ever join piano course?

Kent                : Yes, I do, I ever join the piano course at Yamaha Music Foundation

Valerie             : What do you often play beside piano ?

Kent                : I often play guitar

Valerie             : I like guitar too, but I can’t play it, would you like to teach me play guitar ?

Kent                : Yes, certainly

Valerie             : Thank’s, but play one song with your guitar for me, please.

Kent                : I’ll do, but you must sing!

Valerie             : Oh no, I am sht, better let’s sing together!

Kent                : Ok, open the book behind you! There are many kind new songs

Valerie             : Ok

COMMAND AND REQUEST

A.   Command (Kalimat Perintah)

                Command : is a sentence that orders someone to do something. It ends with a period(.) or an exclamation mark(!).

 Command:adalah kalimat yang perintah seseorang untuk melakukan sesuatu.

 Biasanya Berakhir dengan titik (.) Atau tanda seru (!)

Bisa dilihat beberapa contoh dibawah ini tentang Command : 

1.      Untuk membuat kalimat perintah kita bisa menggunakan kata “command, order, tell, ask, must,  and shall”.

Contoh Kalimat:

·         My mother commanded me to help her.                      
      (Artinya: Ibuku memerintahku untuk membantunya)

·         The teacher ordered the students to do the exercise.

(Artinya: guru memerintah murid-murid mengerjakan latihan)

·         I told you to be quiet.

(Artinya: Saya menyuruhmu diam)

·         He asked me to open the window.

(Artinya: Dia memerintahku untuk membuka jendela)

·         You must write the lessson.

(Artinya: Kamu harus menulis/ mencatat pelajaran itu)

·         You must go home now.

(Artinya: Kamu harus pulang sekarang)

·         This table shall be cleaned.

(Artinya: Meja ini hendaknya dibersihkan)

·         This book shall be read together.

(Artinya: Buku ini hendaknya dibaca bersama-sama) Etc.

CATATAN:

Kata “command, order, & tell” merupakan verb (kata kerja). Sedangkan kata “ask” digunakan dalam causative yang dimaksudkan disini digunakan ketika kita menginginkan seseorang untuk melakukan sesuatu untuk kita atau kita menginginkan sesuatu tersebut terselesaikan untuk kita , dan kata “must & shall” merupakan modal auxiliaries yang dimaksudkan (kata kerja bantu). Secara umum modal auxiliaries digunakan untuk mengekspresikan  sikap atau suasana hati si pembicara.

2.      Be + Adjective

Contoh Kalimat:

v  Be quiet! (Artinya: Diamlah)

v  Be ready. (Artinya: Bersiaplah)

v  Be careful! (Artinya: hati-hatilah) Etc.

3.      Let us (Let’s) + Infinitives

Contoh Kalimat:

§  Let us go now. (Artinya: Mari kita pergi sekarang)

§  Let’s study together. (Artinya: Mari kita belajar bersama)

§  Let’s find the way out. (Artinya: Mari kita menemukan jalan keluar) Etc.

B.      Request (Permintaan)

               Request : is a sentence that asks someone to do something. It ends with a period (.) or a question mark(?).

Permintaan: adalah kalimat yang meminta seseorang untuk melakukan sesuatu.

Berakhir dengan titik (.) Atau tanda tanya (?).

1.      Can you/ Could you

Contoh Kalimat:

Can you help me, Please. (Artinya: Dapatkah anda menolongku )

Could you open the gate. (Artinya: Bisakah kamu membukakan gerbangnya)

Etc.

2.      Will you/ won’t you

Contoh Kalimat:

Will you pick me up ?

(Artinya: Maukah kamu menjemputku?)

Won’t you send the letter?

(Artinya: Maukah kamu mengirim surat ini?)

Etc.

3.      Would you like to

Contoh Kalimat

Would you like to drink this tea, please.

(Artinya: Maukah anda meminum teh ini)

Would you like to lift this chair, please.

(Artinya: Maukah anda mengangkat kursi ini)

Etc.

4.      Would you mind

Contoh Kalimat:

Would you mind finishing it first?

(Artinya: Tidak keberatankah anda untuk menyelesaikannya dahulu?)

Would you mind watching film with me?

(Artinya: Tidak keberatankah anda menonton film dengan saya?)

Etc.
